Alien Covenant: Shaw SPOILERS

This is long overdo, but I saw Alien Covenant last month and I wanted to talk about it. I mean, I loved the movie, but the problem I have is that it’s so ambiguous, not as ambiguous as Prometheus, but still. I don’t think Ridley Scott gets the franchise he started, I hope we get our answers eventually otherwise these movies would be a waste. Not to mention, we don’t know if Scott’s gonna get more movies since Covenant bombed. Don’t know why he had to make a lot movies to explain the Aliens’ origin. But that’s neither here nor there as to what I wanna talk about. I wanna talk about Shaw.

SPOILERS

First of all, I was peeved that they killed off Shaw, just threw her character away just like Newt and Hicks in Alien3. But more importantly, we don’t exactly know what happened. It seemed David killed her, but he kept talking about how he loved her and shit like that, so it doesn’t seem to make sense. So I came up with this theory: someone gave me the idea that Shaw’s death was an accident. David claimed that their ship crashed and she died in the crash after they accidentally released the pathogen. We later find out that David released the pathogen on purpose to kill the Engineers. But it’s possible that both are true. Maybe there was a crash. Maybe after David killed the Engineers, he woke Shaw and distraught by what he did and what he plans to do, she tried to escape with the ship, so he tried to stop her and she crashed and died in the crash. Because, the ship was far away from the city and there were a lot of trees destroyed as if it did crash and that would explain what Shaw’s recording of herself singing Country Road was when she was trying to escape. Then after she died, David, as much he loved her, decided not to waste good material.

I had heard that Ridley Scott’s next movie, Alien: Awakening will be a prequel to Covenant and that “maybe” the next one will be a sequel to Covenant. Maybe Awakening will show what happened between Prometheus and Covenant and what happened to Shaw, which would be nice. But still, I don’t see why he has to make a dozen movies, especially since I don’t see how he’s gonna make more since Covenant bombed. I think he should cut his losses and just make one more movie before the whole thing gets cancelled and we never get our answers.

Aliens Unleashed: My Animated Aliens Fan Film

I didn’t plan this, but in the spirit of the new Alien movie, I have finished my animated fan film Aliens Unleashed. I have worked on it all by myself for over a year with only the help of my cast for the characters using XNALara models and animating them in Blender and getting public domain songs and sound effects from YouTube and other places. It is finally done and I’m glad. And there are more fan films to come. My Friday the 13th reboot will be my next project, and then I will return to Aliens with my sequel to Unleashed, Aliens Apocalypse

After the events of Aliens (retconning Alien3 and Alien Resurrection) Newt and Hicks returned to Earth to find Ripley has disappeared and the company denied everything. 30 years later, Newt and Hicks have moved to a new colony to move on with their lives. Only to discover that Weyland-Yutani has dug up the Derelict ship and harvested the eggs breeding lots of Aliens in a secret lab near the colony. The Aliens have been unleashed and it’s up to Newt to lead the colonists to safety or they will suffer the fate of LV-426.

Hope you enjoy.

Alien Covenant Discussion SPOILERS AHEAD

I saw Alien Covenant yesterday. It was great, I loved it a lot, Michael Fassbender was great as always, Katherine Waterson was a good lead, I knew her before she was famous when I saw her in the independent film Enter Nowhere with Scott Eastwood and Sara Paxton, Danny McBride was awesome too, did a really great job doing a drama instead of comedy. I can’t wait for the next one, though I feel Scott is going a little overkill making probably too many than we need to lead into Alien, not to mention that his Alien movies have been underperforming at the box office, so I hope he can lead into Alien before they run out of money. Not to mention, I’m disappointed that so far, it seems like Blomkamp’s Alien 3.5 won’t get off the ground. I was looking forward to that because it was gonna retcon Alien3Alien Resurrection and bring back my favorite characters and go forward instead of backwards. But I have so many things I wanna run by you guys.

SPOILERS AHEAD

First of all, I had heard that Scott had originally intended to make more on the Engineers, but after Prometheus met negative results because of lack of Alien, he decided to focus all on Alien. But, couldn’t he have done both? Focus on Alien while explaining more about the Engineers. For example, will we ever learn why the Engineers created us and then eventually tried to kill us?

I’m a little iffy about them killing off Shaw, I’m kinda wondering if I can like this movie and not look like a hypocrite because it killed off a character in the next movie just like Alien3, which I hate like poison because of that. On the subject, if David loved Shaw so much, why did he do that to her? Maybe there could be a prologue in the next scene where we actually see what happened right after David wiped out the Engineers.

We now know that David created the Xenomorphs, so we’re assuming that his creation will end up on that the Engineer/Derelict ship in Alien, so how do we get from Covenant to Alien? Did David only kill the Engineers on that one planet and there are more Engineer colonized worlds, maybe ones who will seek vengeance on David for attacking them and David will commandeer one of their ships again which will lead into Alien?

Overall I loved it, it wasn’t as frustrating as Prometheus and I feel Alien has returned. I just hope Scott can wrap this up before the money runs out, if there’s one thing I hate more is an unfinished story.

How I Think Alien Resurrection Should Have Ended

I’m not crazy about Alien Resurrection, but I hate Alien3 more. This is what I think should’ve happened at the end of the movie. Let’s take out that stupid Newborn thing, that was an abomination. This is what I had in mind.

Ripley #8 is taken by the Aliens into the nest. She awakens to see herself surrounded by Aliens and the Queen at her egg sack. She also finds Dr. Gediman strapped to the wall. But the Aliens don’t attack, they just stand there. One Alien gets close to her and rubs its head against her forehead. Gediman explains that since she carries their blood they consider her one of them. Ripley starts to pet one of them like it were a dog. It extends its tongue, she grabs it and rips it out saying that she is not one of them, that she chooses to hold onto her humanity. The Aliens begin to attack, when she pulls out a grenade and presses the button, if she lets go they all go up. She backs away, walks over to Gediman, puts it in his hand telling him “don’t let go”, and she takes off running. Then Gediman lets go of the grenade and it explodes. The Queen gets pissed and escapes.

Ripley makes it to the Betty, but she couldn’t close the hatch, she tells them that she couldn’t close the hatch so Call goes back to close, only to run into the Queen. I know, it’s been done, but it sure is better than the Newborn. The Queen closes the hatch and tries to kill Call. When Distephano comes in and the Queen bites his head off, which a Queen has never done before in the Alien franchise. As the Betty flies into the atmosphere, the Queen is about to kill Call, when Ripley arrives, the Queen is hypnotized by her, because Ripley gave birth to her. Then Ripley does the thing where she burns a hole in the window and the Queen gets sucked out.

I think I would’ve been cooler. I like the idea that Ripley chooses between her instincts and her humanity.

Aliens Colonial Marines Videogame Reboot

I was thinking about what could’ve been done to improve the Aliens Colonial Marines game. Everything that shouldn’t go wrong went wrong with that game: campaign, graphics, gameplay, AI, everything.

First of all, the story was kinda lame considering that Hadley’s Hope should’ve been crater since the explosion at the atmosphere processor was compared to the size of Nebraska. Yet in Colonial Marine it barely had a scratch on it. Also, as much as I hate Alien3 and love Hicks, bringing him back was a copout. If they wanted to bring back Michael Biehn they might’ve been better off just retconning 3 and 4, or made Michael Biehn a brother of Hicks. It was easy to bring back Lance Henriksen as Bishop, cause there are probably a lot of Bishop androids.

The Aliens weren’t much of a challenge and weren’t scary. It should’ve been a FPS survival horror. You know, like Doom 3. They should’ve made it like Doom 3. So yeah, AI sucked and should be more challenging than annoying, and it should be be a surprise on where the Aliens will pop out.

This is how I would do it:

You play a group of about 12 Marines in route back to Earth. You would be able to customize your Marine to be a male or a female and customize your armor. You’d be referred to as the Corporal. Kinda like how in Mass Effect how you choose between a male or fem Shepard. Your ship has picked up an SOS, which is strange since there are no colonies in this area.

You guys go to investigate and find a massive Weyland-Yutani facility completely deserted. You find a few survivors, most of them claim they don’t know what’s going on. You discover that facility was built around an Engineer (Space Jockey) temple filled with Alien eggs after they discovered a star map in a cave like in Prometheus. The base is a breeding facility that has been using humans to breed the Aliens. You learn this from one of the survivors who claims to be an environmentalist who infiltrated the facility to find evidence against Wey-Yu.

Then the shit hits the fan and your Lieutenant and Sargent has been killed. So you take command and must lead the Marines out of this hell hole. You literally have to lead, you command your Marines to do things. Each Marine has a skill that can help you get through this mess. You’re have to seal off areas, make a stand and escape. Again, like Doom 3 but with a unit.

But the Aliens are smart and very sneaky, you never know when they’ll attack, even when you think your safe they could be lurking around somewhere. I wonder if they’re should be safe zones you can seal off to hold up, but you gotta check the area to account for any kind of entrance for the Aliens. And the game is very dark, the Aliens are lurking in the shadows.

You have to protect your unit, you have 12 Marines and you have to make sure they get through alive. You can survive without them, but the more you lose the harder it gets. Each has their own little skill that can help you survive. Strength in numbers. One thing Colonial Marines got right was the idea of having to hold up your motion tracker to know where the Aliens are. You also have to be on the look out for ammo cause you could run out and then you’re screwed.

Super Aliens. I don’t know if I wanna do that. Like maybe there’d be some Alien bosses. But unlike Colonial Marines, these have a better explanation on where they came from. The best explanation for different kind of Aliens are Aliens that were cocooned with animals, such as an Alien that birthed from bird so it has wings, or an Alien birthed from a rhino so it has horns. That could be cool.

And of course you deal with Wey-Yu. Also, one of your Marines could be a traitor. In Aliens they always have someone from Wey-Yu to survey, but in this case, we don’t know who it is. So you also have to careful of who you trust. What do you think, too much? Also, if one of your unit gets attacked by a Facehugger, you have to decide whether to dispose of that person or let them long enough to see if they can still help or whether’s hope you can find a way to rescue them. Like maybe in these safe zones there’s a medical bay you can remove the Chestburster. That could be cool.

Also, you could also use the Power Loaders, a lot better than the game. You could use one to find lots of Aliens or use one to fight a Queen, depending on the situation. You know what would else be cool? Getting to drive an APC, that would be fun. One would drive and one would use the guns.

I like to think of this game like a maze, you have to get from place to place in the facility with different objectives you have to get through in order to survive. That’s how I would do it. It should be strategy, scary, and challenging. That’s how I would do it.

My Animations

I decided to take this time to show you the animated films I’ve been working on for awhile. I recently discovered a series of programs that would allow me to bring my Aliens, Predator, Aliens vs. Predator, Terminator, and Friday the 13th fan fictions to life. It has brought me so much joy and I am so excited to do it. I wanted to show you the short films I’ve been working on:

Aliens Reunion

This is an animated pitch film I made to promote my idea of an Aliens series told with Newt, played by Summer Glau, along with Ripley, Hicks, and Bishop kicking Alien ass.

Predators Alternate Ending

This is an adaptation of an idea I heard about from the original Predators script, I thought it would be cool to do. The original script for Predators called for Arnold Schwarzenegger, but he was unavailable, so they wrote him out. If you haven’t seen Predators, I advice you not to watch it.

Alien vs. Predator: Stowaway

This is based on a script I wrote as part of an Aliens, Predator, Aliens vs. Predator animated anthology. Just a simple story of a Predator leaving after his hunt only to discover an Alien got on his ship and the two battle.

And these are just some test animations I did to practice and introduce new ideas.

Xenomorph Crossbreeds

I’ve been thinking about something interesting. Despite the fact that I loath Alien 3, there is one thing I thought was kind of interesting. See, in Alien 3 and the AVPs, they introduced the idea that the Aliens can take features from the host. In Alien 3 the Alien spawned from a dog and had dog hind legs and in the AVPs there was an Alien that spawned from a Predator, the Predalien, that had dreadlocks and maniples.

I don’t think this thing was limited to Alien 3, I think it was actually Ridley Scott’s idea, because in the Alien commentary he said, “I think that if an Alien landed on a ostrich, it would come out looking like an ostrich.”

So I thought, why don’t they do more of that. For example, what if there was an Alien that spawned from a condor and had wings, or an Alien that birthed from a bull and would have horns.

Reminds me of the Kenner Alien toys they had, some of them were practical, some weren’t, like say a crab Alien or a praying mantis Alien. There were also different species of Aliens in Colonial Marines: the Raven, the Crusher, the Spitters, and the Boilers. But that game gave no explanation of where they came from or what purpose they served.

This is a video I made, I recently got into animation and these are some models I customized to show you the potential of Alien crossbreeds. I got Aliens that spawned from a condor, gorilla, snake, bull, panther, dog, and an Alien that was supposed to appear in Prometheus, the Ultramorph, an Alien that spawned from an Engineer/Space Jockey.

On a side note, there’s another Alien creature I’ve seen in video games called the Praetorians, Alien royal guards.

My Praetorian

I think it looked interesting and could be a nice addition to the series.
